Are you taking your time and really learning by doing homework?  My idea of homework, recall, is for you never to get an answer wrong, 'cause you have taken the time to look in the text to understand the idea behind the question.

Friday the 11 is the last day for the marking period, and the day this homework is due.  You will have a test on Thursday the 10th...for those of you looking at this before the 10th you might go back and look at past homework links and review the questions (I have marked the correct answers in bold).

Question #1   Among the populations of any natural community, the basic food supply is always a critical factor because it is:
     1) produced by all the organisms of the community
     2) synthesized from oxygen
     3) yes a means of transferring energy
     4) present in surplus amounts

Question #2   A consumer-producer relationship is best illustrated by:
     1) foxes eating mice
     2) leaves growing on trees
     3) yes rabbits eating clover
     4) fleas living on a cat

Question #3  Base your answers to the 3 questions below on the following food chain:{write the answer after the question letter}

   rosebush–(eaten by)-aphid-(eaten by)-beetle-(eaten
    by)-spider-(eaten by)-toad-(eaten by)-snake

A] Which orgainsm in this food chain can transform light energy into chemical bond energy? rosebush, the only producer
B] At which stage in this food chain will the population with the smallest number of organisms probably be found? Snake, highest on this food chain
C] If all of the aphid were killed off due to the spraying of pesticides, what would happen to the number of toads this ecosystem could support?  they would be reduced..or worse gone completely. The rule is that below the food chain will influence that above..they don't have the food anymore!

Question #4 Which sequence illustrates a generalized food chain in a natural community? (read left to right)
     1) yes autotroph--herbivore--carnivore
     2) autotroph--herbivore--autotroph
     3) heterotroph--herbivore--carnivore
     4) consumer--autotroph--carnivore

Quetion #5 Explain the difference between a habitat and a niche. A habitat is where an organism lives (its "address") and its niche is what it does in the environment(its "occupation")
